Dear Woman's Cancer Association members and friends,
For fifty years the Woman's Cancer Association of the University of Miami has supported cancer research, patient welfare, and cancer education at UM. As we begin our 51st year, I want to wish all WCA officers and members a fulfilling year as we work in pursuit of our noble tasks. Your devotion, teamwork and generosity assure my complete dedication to WCA as your president.
It is readily apparent that WCA is a courageous group of people with a fixed resolve not to quit. We take pride in sharing this principle with hundreds of doctors and cancer research scientists at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine who have devoted their lives to finding cures and improving treatments. Since WCA's inception, we have donated more than $10,000,000 to UM for cancer research, and we will continue to provide substantial grants annually. In addition, each year we provide stipends and supplements to hundreds of cancer patients being treated at UM/Jackson Memorial Hospitals.
Dr. Seuss speaks to us when he says, "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." My sincere appreciation to all of you who care so much for sharing your unique talents with WCA and making things better for so many.
Yours in service,
Sara Lee Sanderson
WCA President, 2009-2010
